old toy + new batteries = political future

My son, Caleb, is obsessed with all things electronic. My phone in particular. I have tried using an old phone with the charger, it beeps and has a red button that lights up. It works at times when the real phones are put away. But Caleb always finds a way to get them out again.

My latest effort involves an old play phone that needed new batteries. The phone has some pretty neat features that I thought Caleb would appreciate. It rings, makes beeping noises when you dial the numbers and it also can record your voice and play back a five second 'message.' Not that he talks but I thought he would enjoy hearing my voice on the 'new' phone.

Turns out Sariah and Arch both like the last feature. So much that two days after the batteries were replaced they are completely dead. (If any one from Energizer is reading, your batteries don't keep going and going... My kids can run that bunny into the ground before the race even starts!)

In the process of the incredible feat of draining batteries in less than 36 hours Arch spent at least an hour straight yelling random words and phrases into the phone and listening to himself say, according to him, hilarious things. Then he says, "I love this phone, because I love the sound of my voice."

Turns out he might have a successful career in politics.

True, he does have some great sound bites - that is a useful tool for politics!

So, are you trying to tell everyone that he takes after his mama? ...and that crazy friend who is talking to his mama on the phone all the time. :)
